Tiffany Gillis Brown, Esq.

Founder and CEO

Tiffany Gillis Brown is the Founder and CEO of Gillis Education LLC. She was born in Washington, DC and grew up in neighboring Prince George’s County, Maryland. She studied Biology and Religion at Duke University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Tiffany started Gillis Education as a way to give back to her community in a meaningful way. Being the daughter of an educator, and coming from a long line of educators, she has always had a passion for education and mentoring. She saw a great need for targeted, out-of-school interventions to help students on their academic journeys, whether it was high-dosage tutoring, creating homeschooling programs tailored to students and their families, or providing zealous special education advocacy. Since founding the company in 2011, it has grown tremendously and continues to evolve to meet the immediate needs of its clients.

Tiffany earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School and focuses her efforts on civil rights law, with a special interest in education, disability rights, and health care. Tiffany has an Advanced Certificate in College Advising from Columbia University. Tiffany is also a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the National Bar Association, the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), and the International Literacy Association (ILA). She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.

Abigail Birkhimer

Tutor and Consultant

As an educator specializing in curriculum development and teaching methodologies, Abby’s focus lies in fostering academic growth among students from diverse backgrounds. With a Master's in Secondary Education from UNC-Charlotte and a Bachelor's in History, with a concentration in teacher education from North Carolina State University, Abby has developed a skillset tailored to support students’ diverse learning needs. Her time in Gaston County Schools, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and Children's Discovery Center reflects her dedication to creating inclusive learning environments where students of all backgrounds thrive. She is passionate about leveraging innovative teaching approaches to meet the unique needs of every student, ensuring an equitable and enriching educational experience for all.

Rebekah Brown

Tutor and Consultant

Rebekah is a seasoned educator with a specialized background in high school math and science. She has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's in education, a combination of degrees she chose to be exposed to various teaching styles while also delving deeply into the study of math. After college, she taught high school and freshman-level college classes in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, physics, and chemistry. Since 2015, she has been tutoring students of all different abilities and has used that experience extensively in her current role as an editor/writer in the high school STEM department at a curriculum company. After so many years in the classroom, one-on-one with students, and now behind the scenes working on educational materials, she has found a passion for discovering ways technology can be used to facilitate a student learning experience that was never possible for previous generations.

 

Oscar Robles

Tutor and Consultant

Oscar Robles is currently a Math and Science Educator in El Paso, Texas, working on a Doctoral of Higher Education and Policy degree at the University of Texas at El Paso. He is specifically interested in the role of developing undergraduate students in STEAM for future university careers in research. He strengthens his passion daily by delivering quality education to his students while making sure he addresses essential academic and life skills during class. During his undergraduate career, he worked as a chemistry tutor, facilitating study workshops. As a research assistant, he studied the development of organic compounds and how they influence our everyday life. For his graduate studies, he transitioned to the student affairs sector to positively impact future generations of students within higher education. 

Sofia Rios Cintron

Tutor and Consultant

Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Sofia is a passionate tutor that has experience with students of all ages and education levels. She works both in English and in Spanish. Graduating as an honors student in high school, she attended Berkeley College as a Business Management student. There she worked at the Center for Academic Success as a peer tutor. Though she specialized in writing and ESL students, she tutored accounting, finance, management, business, advanced spreadsheets, statistics, and computer applications. Over her two and a half years tutoring there, she worked with over 300 different students. Despite being in the honors program, completing a thesis, and working, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA and several accolades from her superiors. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in data science.

Octavia Young

Tutor and Consultant

Octavia Young is a North Carolina native with a passion for youth. She has years of experience pouring into children inside and outside of the classroom. She has been a tutor and mentor with national organizations like The Boys and Girls Club, where she was a Director, and Girls Scouts of America, where she is currently an Experience Manager. She attended Western Carolina University, majoring in Social Work.

Olivia McDonald

Social Media Strategist

Olivia McDonald is a social media strategist who excels at creating campaigns and strengthening brand’s social media presence, converting followers into customers. Olivia achieves this through thoughtful design, captions, strategy and insights regarding the target audience. Olivia believes that every company has the ability to thrive and connect with countless clients via social media. Knowing how to be original, stay consistent, and pivot when platforms update is key. Olivia has previously, and continues, to work with countless high profile brands to increase their social media reach and drive sales through affiliate marketing. Pandora, Chicos, and Truffle to name a few. When she is not strategizing and crafting social media campaigns, Olivia can be found running her personal brand, online clothing boutique, and enjoying the outdoors with her dogs.
